July 9, 2012 This directory includes a scanned copy of: Butlin NG (1984), ‘Select comparative economic statistics 1900-1940: Australia and Britain, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and U.S.A.’, Source Papers in Economic History No 4, Australian National University, Canberra. I only downloaded the part of the paper that refers to Australia; the following parts (which do not cover Australia) are available here: http://cbe.anu.edu.au/research/papers/cehspapers/SP04_004.pdf (And 005, 006 etc.) The other reference for the 1900-onwards period is: "Butlin MW (1977), ‘A Preliminary Annual Database 1900/01 to 1973/74’, Reserve Bank of Australia Research Discussion Paper No 7701. But apparently not available online (this website: http://www.econdata.com/databases/australia-nz/ mentions that on the Historical Statistics part of RBA's website one can find: "the RBA Australian Economic Statistics 1949-50 to 1996-97 and all of the time series from the Reserve Bank of Australia publication Research Discussion Paper 7701: Preliminary Annual Database 1900-01 to 1973-74", but I could not find the latter (for the former, see 1949-1997 directory)
